Alife Health Partners With Ovation Fertility On Cutting-Edge AI Technology For Embryo Image Capture And Cataloguing

 


Alife Health, a fertility technology firm that develops AI tools for in-vitro fertilization (IVF), has teamed with Ovation Fertility, one of the largest fertility networks in the United States, to test Alife's new embryo picture cataloging software, Embryo Assist.


Embryo Assist enables embryologists at Ovation's laboratories to digitally record photos and data for each embryo produced during IVF treatment. This streamlines the tedious procedure of transferring embryo information between systems. The software includes an activity record and an audit trail for quality assurance.


Additionally, Embryo Assist includes an AI embryo ranking capability. Using machine learning models trained on over 12,000 previous IVF cycles, embryologists may choose the embryo with the best likelihood of conception for transfer. In a recent study, Alife's model outperformed five experienced embryologists in determining the best embryo, demonstrating its ability to standardize the subjective grading process.


Dr. Matthew VerMilyea, Ovation's VP of Scientific Advancement, believes Embryo Assist will increase lab efficiency and performance by digitizing manual workflows. This will ultimately allow Ovation to give better outcomes for patients.


Alife CEO Paxton Maeder-York says partnering with a leading network like Ovation demonstrates how their advanced AI technology can optimize clinic processes and set a new standard for precision and consistency in embryo selection.


If authorized, the AI ranking function could assist embryologists in making more data-driven decisions regarding which embryo to transfer, particularly when their perspectives differ. Both firms want to demonstrate how Alife's products can benefit fertility clinics and labs while giving patients the best chance of pregnancy.
